Love for Keilani
This sweet angel brought the light of heaven with her and though she's returned, that light remains. Keilani was the product of unconditional love and her legacy of love goes on. Her biological mother chose to place her for adoption and selected the perfect adoptive family. During the pregnancy, an ultrasound revealed numerous heart problems: double inlet left ventricle, double inlet right ventricle, single ventrical, and narrowing of her aortic arch, all complicated by being transposed. Thanks to the unconditional love of of Keilani's families, the adoption took place as planned, and Keilani had her first of many heart surgeries at just ten days old.
In the six months of her short life she touched so many lives, an amazing feat for someone who never spoke a word. With her bright eyes she could lighten up the darkest places. With a "broken heart" she gave enough love to fill an ocean.
Her family viewed their role in her brief life as nothing less than a privilege and an honor. Keilani's battle and their love have moved many. In hopes of helping her family with the lingering costs of adoption, medical bills, funeral expenses, and hopefully flying her birth mother across the country, we are asking for those touched by her story to please open your hearts and wallets and donate to Keilani's Memorial Fund. All contributions will go to the Crawford family.
"Iokwe" is a Marshallese word used as a greeting, a farewell, and an expression of love. The literal meaning of the word is "you are the rainbow."
Thank you for sharing your colors with us, Keilani. Iokwe.
