Veronica's St Maarten Relief Fund
Donation protected
Dear friends,
My name is Veronica Tent. I am a physician residing in Illinois. I had the pleasure of living in St Maarten during the 1st two years of my medical school, making me one of the "locals". As you know, St Maarten has suffered a huge tragedy due to Irma. The island is 95% destroyed. Although a huge tourist attraction, the locals are simple people who live modestly. They are known for their warmth and friendliness in the Caribbean. Currently they find themselves without shelter, water or food and no where to go. Fortunately the medical school is coordinating the evacuation of the 500 medical students and their families, but the locals are now at a huge loss.
I have created this GoFund in the hope that we can help with first aid. Some of the AUC alumi are joining me in this and we will distribute to local churches and organizations to help with first aid such as water, food, medicine, etc. It will be years before they can reconstruct but they need basic help. I have kept in touch with many of them throughout the years and feel that it is my duty now to try to help them out even with basic things. I will be coordinating with some of the local Pastors to distribute to different neighborhoods.
Please open your heart and help out if you can. We need the funds immediately. We are grateful for any help we can receive. Please forward this email to your friends and encourage them to help us if possible as well. Any amount is valuable and much appreciated.
Sincerely and gratefully,
Veronica Tent MD
