Small business burned down, please help Jenae!

“Happy one year anniversary, ma!”
I sent this text to my mother on December 1st. Her independent grooming business had just hit its one year mark. So many clients had booked for the holidays and business was BOOMING! She was thriving. Every phone call we had started with “I just love my job. I spend all day with dogs!”
On Thursday, Dec. 15th, I got a very different call. On FaceTime, I saw my mom shaking and sobbing, and then I saw the flames and smoke pouring out of her shop. The entire Lyons shopping center was burning down. She has been mid-groom when a neighboring shop owner ran frantically to notify her, telling her “You need to get out.” Suddenly, smoke poured into her shop from the back hallway and it was only a moment before flames came, too. She grabbed the dog she was grooming, a few tools and her keys, and fled.
It was a total loss. Her quality equipment and specialty products, her hand-painted space for loving on the pups… all ashes. Plus, she was in her busiest season. Now she has to make ends meet, care for her two boys, and try to reopen, all with this loss and no active income.
Jenae’s journey to owning a business has been so inspiring - and her success has been monumental for the Lyons community & dogs, and for her and our family. Please, if you can, any amount will help her rebuild from the ashes, bring the pups back to her for love and grooms, and make the holidays a little easier for the family.
