Love Your Playground Project

After noticing our playgrounds needed some extra love, the Lyme-Old Lyme Junior Women's Club and a team of community members joined together to create the Love Your Playground Project, to renovate the playgrounds at Town Woods and Cross Lane Parks in Old Lyme.

We met our goal for Town Woods and installed several new peices of playground equipment during Fall 2016.  We have an ultimate goal to raise $200,000 for a complete playground rebuild at Cross Lane Park and we are so close - only $13,000 away!  Cross Lane Park playground was originally installed in 1989 and had not been updated since.  In 2015 the playground was deemed unsafe and was removed.  The town had not anticipated this and had not budgeted for a new playground.  That is where the Love Your Playground Project jumped in!  

We were very disappointed to see outdoor space for children and families being removed, but it has offered the opportunity for a more modern and more accessible playground to be installed.  The new playground at Cross Lane Park will be an accessible playground with many inclusive play areas so that the playground can be enjoyed by children of all abilities and all community members.

All the money raised through this GoFundMe page will be used to purchase and install the new accessible, Cross Lane Park playground.  Construction at the Cross Lane Park during Fall 2017.

We believe that unstructured play and creativity that are found at playgrounds are very important for children and families - and having a safe, strong and accessible environment makes sense for every community.
