Help a loving father fight for his son

Hi everyone, my name is Chloe and I come to you with a heartfelt plea, to support a father who is facing an incredibly difficult battle. This individual, whom we deeply care for, has been unjustly separated from their beloved son for the past two years due to a challenging child custody situation.

Due to legal reasons and to protect their identities, we cannot reveal the names or faces of the father and son involved.

Nevertheless, our friends and I assure you that this parent has been a devoted and loving caregiver since his son's birth. His journey has been fraught with court delays caused by the pandemic and complex legal proceedings. The aftermath of the divorce from the mother has resulted in post-separation domestic abuse against him. Both child and father have been suffering and it's really sad to see this injustice happening. The father has done nothing wrong and was forced to take the mother to court when she was being controlling and unreasonable in relation to co-parenting. The family also believes financial motivation is a big factor.

The father was unaware when he moved out of the marital home she automatically became the resident parent - which legally gives her more power to dictate custody, until the court gives an official order - which has been backed up because of Covid. Family court proceedings normally take a few months - but now has taken two years to complete because courts were not open for a long period. It's legal kidnapping and it's extremely unfair and an abomination of justice. The family courts are a disaster and can be easily taken advantage of.

Despite his unwavering fatherly love, he has had to endure the daily painful effects of dread and uncertainty for nearly 2 years. His heart has been broken and he has been dealing with endless sleepless nights, panic attacks, hopelessness and grief, and severe depression. He is suffering from PTSD and will need consistent therapy moving forward. Alienating a child from a parent for malicious reasons is present in 11% to 15% of divorce cases. This is a major public issue that few people know about and is an unfortunate worldwide burden, especially since many couples divorced during Covid. On top of this, he, like many other dads, also face the additional burden of being silenced by a legal system that imposes restrictions on speaking about their case, leaving them feeling voiceless. He is a stable and safe parent that simply wants 50/50 shared custody.

Luckily, there is hope.

The family court advisory service conducted an extensive investigation into his case and suggested a 50/50 shared custody arrangement to foster a nurturing environment for the child. There is no reason his son should be kept from him. He tried mediation with his ex, but she refused and consistently ignores communication to stifle his efforts. Without an official court order (seeing significant delay) the mother can do what she wants in the meantime and is doing so - making the situation unnecessarily difficult. The court family advisory service has found the son has been in distress because of this and suffering - but the mother doesn't seem to care. It is disheartening to witness the horrific misuse of the court system, driven by resentment and misplaced feelings with a lack of focus on the best interests of the child, leaving the father-son relationship unfairly torn apart.

Now the final hearing is approaching and is time to win this horrible battle..

This father faces not only continued emotional distress but also financial strain. He has incurred substantial debt while fighting his case the last two years and cannot afford the solicitor fees necessary to present his case effectively. He is extremely worried about his child - controlled by a narcissistic parent. Cases like this can typically face upwards of £20,000 to £40,00 and sometimes way more. The financial hardship of the situation has left him feeling completely hopeless. He absolutely loves being a father and just wants an equal share - and he has never stopped fighting for his son. It is deeply unfair and scary to see such utter disregard for basic human decency happening in 2023. Unfortunately, this situation is common for so many parents in modern times post-divorce.
