Lower Grand Radio and Unity Studio Theft
Donation protected
Our studio space was robbed in the early hours of Wednesday morning this last week.
Thieves stole our DJ equipment (all four turntables, 2 Technics MK 1200s, 2 CDJ NXS2000s, and DJM-800), as well as Unity merchandise in the store. We are hoping to recoup funds to replace the DJ equipment and locksmith fees. Lower Grand Radio has been funded by our Patreon but only covers our immediate costs like rent and operating fees, so with a loss like this we are reaching out to the community for assistance to keep the station going.
For those that don't know, LGR is a community-driven internet radio station in Oakland. We've been online for the past 8 years, archived over 3,000 individual shows and have been in our current space on Broadway for the past 2 years. While at our current space, we've been able to hold workshops, provide DJs/producers/radio enthusiasts a place to practice, record and showcase what they do. Building this community is vital to keeping a healthy scene of growth and learning in
music and we hope to continue that!
Funds will be used to purchase :
- New digital turntables ($4,000)
- Analog Turntables ($2,500)
- New 4 Channel Mixer ($3500)
- Protective Gear (covers, cases) ($500)
- Lock smith Repairs and better locks ($1000)
Thank you for the support!
