Low-Income Harvard Student ~Fights Concussion!!!~

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL WHO HAVE DONATED ALREADY!! <3
Hey all! My name is Avila Sol-Rey (full legal, Avila Sola Reynolds). During my senior spring at Harvard College as a low income/full aid student, I got a severe concussion from jumping into a cement ceiling while dancing at a college party. A celebratory night out quickly unraveled into a nightmare I’ve been living now for three years. The injury caused lots of structural and nerve damage to my upper neck. I barely managed to graduate and have been unable to work the past two years due to intense lingering symptoms, including light sensitivity, migraines, restless sleep, and debilitating nerve pain. I come from a low-income family and have been unable to receive the medical care I require to finish my recovery despite best efforts. While living at home, I have been commuting 4 hours 3x a week to seek physical therapy and check-ins with a concussion specialist, covered by my NJ Medicaid Health Insurance. However, this care has only been able to take my recovery so far. I genuinely need specialized chiropractic care and Graston technique/muscle releasing therapies to make a full recovery.
I am an activist for the LGBTQ community, using my lens as a low-income, POC, gender-queer pansexual dyke who grew up in a ‘trump pocket’ of South Jersey to create films and music to empower others who have survived similar traumas. My goal is to be well enough enough and financially stable enough to move to the west coast by Fall and to release projects interrupted by my lingering injury: a queer meet cute/existential film featuring gender-queer characters, shot in Australia & in final editing stages; an EP featuring anthems for survivors of emotional & physical abuse, and those forced to hide queer love; and a budding YouTube channel I’ve been working on launching over the past year, content inclusive of topics mentioned above + sexism within the queer community, healing from trauma through shadow work, and destroying limiting subconscious beliefs- embedded by socialization and trauma- to create the just and joyous lives we ALL DESERVE and are CAPABLE OF.
If you want to make my full recovery a reality, I would sincerely appreciate any contribution you can comfortably make- every dollar counts!!! Thank you immensely for your generosity and compassion and for taking the time to hear a bit about my life and trajectory.
All my best, Sending light and love
