On the afternoon of 4 August 2020, two explosions occurred at the port of the city of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The extremely powerful second blast resulted in at least 157 deaths, 5,000 injuries, US$10–15 billion in property damage and an estimated 300,000 people made homeless.
Lebanese Rugby League Federation (LRLF) has organised an appeal to raise funds which will go directly to support the relief effort and to support the Lebanese first responders.
Whilst Numerous Governmental and Non-Governmental organizations are doing amazing job on the ground, we have decided to support Lebanese First Responders. Many courageous First Responders lost their lives during the explosion. Lebanon has some 2,553 Civil Defense volunteers. Most are ambulance first responders, rescue workers and firefighters.
The Lebanese Rugby League Federation would like to request an act of solidarity from the whole rugby league community and all around the world. All the donations will be contributed to help Lebanese Firefighter buy new equipment’s in order to provide them to saves more lives in the future.
