LSG Group Season's greetings initiative
Donation protected
The LSG Group is always grateful for the support and trust our partners have placed in us. To show our thanks and appreciation to them, we would like to donate to four deserving social projects from across the different regions this festive season.
Projects include charitable initiatives, organisations, schools and orphanages to which the LSG Group or LSG Sky Chefs has a connection. The LSG Group Executive Board has generously agreed to match the amount collected, and the total sum will be distributed across the four chosen projects.
Projects:
Empowering our Disadvantaged By LSG Sky Chefs Kenya
Since October 2021, LSG Sky Chef Kenya has been supporting John Kaheni Residence home; the home empowers teenagers and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds by enhancing their abilities and helping to integrate into Kenyan society. They also provide professional, emotional and financial support to these young people as they start planning the next step in transitioning from a children’s home and school to the adult world and self-determined life.
LSG Sky Chef Kenya selected students from John Kaheni Residence home to get into the two and half year dual vocational program with a Chef Curriculum. The vocational aspect covers 70% company training and 30% vocational school education for the apprentice. The apprentice is incorporated into the company and caters for their on-the-job training, monthly allowances, school fees and medical insurance. By having a donation, we shall be able to support the students more in terms of other needs like housing and transport that we are usually unable to cater for.
Myanmar orphanages By LSG Sky Chefs Myanmar
Myanmar is one of the poorest countries in Asia, and many children and adults are starving for their whole life; the case is not better for orphanages.
During the pre-COVID period, almost 100% of our employees in Myanmar CSC would contribute some part of their salary to support at least two orphanages every anniversary of Myanmar LSG Skychef. It is so lovely to see the innocent kids running around with happy faces when they see us arrive with some articles to fulfil their needs.
Warm Meals for Denver homeless community By LSG Sky Chefs Denver
Team Denver has been providing nutritious, wholesome and comforting meals to Denver’s needy population since 2016. 150+ meals are served on the first Saturday of every other month. Currently, meals are served in Salvation Army in Downtown Denver where there was a profound need for this service. This population is the neediest in the Metro area, living in tents or temporarily inside the building. This facility houses hundreds of homeless people with beds lined up, side by side, throughout the 20,000 sq. ft. facility.
Along with meals, much-needed items are provided; depending on the season, items are collected within the team and distributed to those in need. In the winter, hats, gloves, scarves and socks are provided, and water bottles, sunscreen, lip balm and sanitiser are provided in the warmer months.
Hot meals are provided by cooking in the catering kitchen and transporting in large Cambros, so the food remains piping hot.
Eco-Escola Luanda, Angola By LSG Sky Chefs LAD
For the past three months, the LSG LAD team has supported Eco-Escola, Angola's first eco-school, founded three years ago by the non-governmental organisation JOBAB in Cantinton-Luanda. Catinton is a populated area with low employment rates and a lot of recyclable waste. Many of the children attending Eco-Escola cannot afford to attend school as parents have no income to meet the school fees. Eco-Escola doesn't charge monetary fees to the parents. Instead, parents collect recyclable waste in the area to pay the school fees.
This project provides educational opportunities to the children of a community giving education opportunities and helps the environment remain clean. Donations will be used to acquire school equipment like desks and stationery. Enhancing the school conditions by painting the walls and installing toilets since the school does not have any.
