Our Rock & Roll Nightmare!

Donation protected
On Wednesday , October 7th at 11:30pm my girlfriend woke me up and said that she saw on Facebook that the building where my bands rehearse was on fire. We rushed there and when we arrived the nightmare became real. One of my best friends is a City of Logan Firefighter and almost immediately came out of the building and shook his head saying: "It's not good up there". We waited patiently to get into the space and he was correct, total devastation. We carried everything we could downstairs and packed it away in trucks and vans for the night. The real amount of destruction and loss wasn't realized until the next day when we were able to open things up in the daylight. While we realize this could have been much, much worse, it was still very hard to see our gear in this state.

We come from a small town and we know everyone involved in this tragedy. We knew every firefighter that climbed those stairs that night and most of their families, we know the business owners below the rehearsal space. To have this fire contained as quickly as it was, the business below spared major damage, and to know that no one was injured fighting the fire was a huge relief and our first concern. We owe a debt of gratitude to the City of Logan Fire Department for their unflinching dedication to stop what could have been a much worse tragedy. We offer our sincerest apologies to the fine folks at B&B Loans, an institution in the City of Logan. I bought my first guitar amp there in 1993 at 12 years old, so this place has been in my life for years and we are all so glad that it was spared.

The outpouring of love and compassion that has followed has been overwhelming. We appreciate every phone call and text message we’ve received from our friends, families, musicians, and promoters. Thank you to everyone who came out the night of the incident and the following days to carry, clean, or just be with us for moral support. Thanks to our friend Lori for lending us a spot to store what gear we are able to salvage. A big Thank you to Lori Justice for spending two full days scrubbing and wiping and keeping us all smiling throughout. Finally, a very special thank you to our dear friend and comrade Stevie Trent. The work he’s put in for us these last few days will never be forgotten. We owe you more than we will ever be able to repay.

Let the Guilty Hang has been together for 10 years, playing countless shows in many states and releasing an independent record several years back. We were on the cusp of finishing our new record "In Tongues" and were in the process of mixing it. This incident will obviously postpone our release date. Unfortunately, we did not have any form of insurance on our space or our gear. If you are a musician and YOUR gear is not insured, stop reading this right now and please go do that. Do not wait. While the toll is still being calculated, we know that we have lost all of our merchandise, our iMac, all power cabling, most mics, and our pedal boards are questionable. Most anything that plugged into a wall (power amps, mixers, PA stuff) will have to be repaired, rebuilt, or cleaned extensively. We have also lost our rehearsal space that was shared by 4-5 bands, so, the fallout from this will be widespread.

We’ve had so many people wanting to help, we thought long and hard about it, and we opted to set up this GoFundMe as a final resort. We wanted to offer tangible stuff, in addition to this campaign, for people to utilize. We plan to fast track our first single to digital release through BandCamp, making it possible for people to donate there, and we are working with our amazing graphic designer, Brandon Day, to design a Limited Edition shirt that folks can preorder. We know of several benefit shows that are being planned by our amazing friends and will attend and participate at whatever level we can.

With the money raised here and through other fundraisers, we will replace as much of the gear we lost as possible, replenish our merch (one of the only ways we can make money in the dying art of live music), secure a new rehearsal space, and for the love of god, get insurance. We need this money ASAP and sincerely appreciate each of you that make a donation. Hell, I appreciate you reading this let alone donating. I vow that once this is done and if we can get our feet back under us we will make this up to our community. I will personally put on some type of free concert to show our appreciation to everyone that has supported us in our time of need. None of us are really shocked at the outpouring of support, as we too are members of this close-knit community and the tight group of musicians we all support and call friends. Thanks again for considering helping us and for taking time to read this. Much love and respect to you all.
