Help Us Share Luca's Story: A Stillbirth
Donation protected
In memory of Luca Makoa Bowen, many of you (near and far away) have voiced that you would like to be able to help or contribute in some special and tangible way. Through the loss of their child, The Bowen's heart is to share Luca’s story and their faith with the world through a short documentary film. The purpose of the film is to bring awareness to the tragic reality of stillbirth, point people to various organizations that aid financially, and give others the hope and healing they need to navigate through a tragedy like this; the hope of Jesus and eternal life in heaven.
Your donations will help hire a filmmaker and provide financial resources and emotional support to others experiencing child loss through stillbirth.
On October 31st, 2022, Justin and Cara Bowen's son, Luca Makoa, was born without a heartbeat. This has been a very tragic and emotional time for them and our family. No parent should ever have to experience this.
They received the news on Oct. 29th after Cara hadn't felt the baby move that day. Concerned, they went to the hospital that evening to get an ultrasound. No life was found in their baby. They had to go through with the unimaginable delivery of their still baby at 37 weeks. This tragedy has left them with a painful loss that will last a lifetime.
Thankfully, they were able to spend the day with Luca after he was born and soak in the moments they will cherish forever. The hardest part for them was saying goodbye to Luca and going home empty-handed and broken-hearted.
Through it all, they've held on tightly to their faith and to the promises of God. They have two beautiful daughters (Kalea, 23 months & Isla, 11 months) and their relationship with one another and with God continues to grow stronger. They know they will one day see their son again in heaven, and rejoice.
The generosity and outpouring of love from friends and family has blessed our whole family.
Thank you.
