Lucas’s DTS in Kona, Hawaii

Hello Everyone!

My name is Lucas Pereira. I come from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and I am the son of two loving parents and an older brother to one talented sister. My interests over the years have mostly been video games, movies, shows, music (both listening to and performing), art, philosophy, and people. I have had the privilege of growing up as a missionary kid in Central Asia, and have had the opportunity to visit many other nations. In my senior year of high school, due to having a great mentor, I formed a relationship with and found major comfort in Jesus. Out of love for my heavenly Father, and a desire to live out His Word, I started reading and studying the Bible, which has become an immense source of wisdom in my life. Because of this newfound love, my heart for people wound up shattered. I thought back to all the people I had seen across the world who had never gotten the chance to know about the love that the Lord has for them. Immediately following that thought, my heart for culture, people, nations, and God kindled into a burning desire to fulfill my namesake: being a bringer of light.

Due to the fact that my parents work with YWAM, I felt as though the perfect way to jumpstart this life of light bringing would be through the primary missionary course that YWAM offers: A Discipleship Training School. Through studying the Bible, learning about doing ministry firsthand, and building relationships, I hope to find out about my calling and go deeper with God. In the school, there is also a two-month period of time that I would get the honor of being able to go to an unreached location in what the school calls the “outreach phase.” In this phase the students get the opportunity to share His love and spread the truth that is Jesus, as well as serving their needs.

To attend the school at the YWAM base in Kona, Hawaii (which is a five-month program), I would need $8,000 for tuition, room and board, airfare and outreach in a different nation. I would like to ask if you would prayerfully consider giving towards what I believe the Lord is calling me to do. You giving the money would not be just throwing money at a cause and feeling good about me doing well, it would mean joining my team and working with me as partners. I believe this DTS will be an exciting, fun, and essential step in my walk with the Lord and what he has planned for me.
