Lucas T1D Diagnosis

Hi, my name is Tyler. My 2 year old son Luca was hospitalized late February because he went into DKA. For those who are unfamiliar, that is Diabetic Ketoacidosis. Long story short, Lucas pancreas doesn’t provide insulin to break down sugars and convert them to energy, which in turn causes him to have extremely high blood sugar. Because of this he was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic. Unfortunately the timing of this was awful, and we did not have Luca covered on any insurance. Though the hospital took care of a big chunk, we do have a large sum that needs to be paid to the hospital and all the amazing people who took care of our boy and nursed him back to health. We are staying strong, he now has insurance, and we are just making the most out of our journey and letting it bring us closer together. We have a little girl on the way, and the last thing we want to be worrying about is a bunch of bills and medical equipment cost while we’re taking time off to be with our daughter due in August. Anything helps, nobody is required to give anything except love and support, I just know many of you have asked us to do this and frankly, it is something we need. I love all of you who have been with us through our couple of months dealing with this. Thank you.
