The Background
This is for our son Lucas, who is a single father of Samuel our handsome Grandson.
On our recent family camping trip to the McCloud river area Lucas had a very serious accident. Which resulted in a fractured scapula, 7 fractured ribs, 1 broken rib, hairline fracture in his hip and a punctured lung. All injuries are to the left side of his body. He was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital which was Shasta/Mercy hospital. Once there he had a head CT scan and multiple x-rays to determine the extent of his injuries. They placed a nerve blocker in his shoulder for pain and a chest tube to re-inflate his lung. They kept him over night, he was released in the late afternoon. He has since followed up with his Doctor here, and the nerve blocker was removed . He is doing as well as could be expected. He is strong, so we are hoping for a speedy recovery.
The Cost
We are not sure how much of his medical expenses will be covered since he was admitted to an out of network hospital. That process will take some time.
At the very least he will be out of work for 3 wks, and maybe for 8-10. The Doctors are not sure, only time will tell.
