This year I am honored to have been awarded a full tutition, merit-based scholarship to attend Ballet West Academy's 2017 Summer Intensive in Salt Lake City, Utah. Studying with the Ballet West Academy's Summer Intensive, my training will be taken to new heights with up to ten hours per day being spent working in the studio.
I have also been privileged with an offer to attend the Ballet West Academy/artÉmotion Choreographic Workshop. I will be one, amongst the fifteen males and thirty females who were selected to be used in the creation of new choreography to be premiered this summer.
These opportunities have come as a total surprise. When I auditioned for the programs I humbly believed all the odds were against me. With limited extension and turn-out, flat feet and at age ninteen with only six years of training, I never thought that I would be considered for a merit-based scholarship or that I would be cast to take part in someone's choreography. However, dance has truly been my life for the past six years and I fiercely hope it will be for the rest of my life. Nothing is more satisfying. I can only assume my extreme devotion to this exquisite art form is what's gotten me where I am today.
Though I have recieved the generous offer of a full scholarship to the Intensive, I still must acquire the means to pay tuition for the Choreographic Workshop (due by May 1st), housing in Utah, travel fare, grocery and living expenses and any other additional fees required to attend. At this point in my life, I simply cannot afford these expenses.
Dear reader, this is your opportunity to help give someone the chance they otherwise wouldn't have. Attending this program means a chance to make my deepest passion a career.
