Baby Luca Joseph’s medical and expense fund
I’m Lucas mommy Melissa and his daddy Richard is beside me as we sit bedside at Winthrop Hospital. On 9/12/20 we brought Luca who is 11 weeks old into the ER department at Good Sam. Upon arrival they did testing during a CT scan they spotted a spot in Lucas ventricle and fluid . They than recommended us to be transferred to Winthrop for more testing. Upon arrival at Winthrop we were immediately put into PICU. Richard and I were informed Luca has a rare tumor the size of a golf ball called Choriod Plexus Papilloma and hydrocephalus. Currently Luca will undergo brain surgery tomorrow (9/14/20) to remove the tumor and send it for testing to see if it is cancerous. Luca will be monitored after surgery tomorrow and the next few days to rule out if he will require a shunt. Richard and I are unsure how long Luca will be in the hospital. Some of Lucas medical needs are not going to be covered by his insurance and Mommy and Daddy had to take a leave of absence from our jobs to care for our son.
