Lucius Seeks Safe Haven in Canada

Dear friends, family, and kindhearted strangers,

Hello! I'm Lucius and I'm an 18-year-old trans man trying to immigrate to Canada from America in response to all of the anti-transgender bills being passed. I was initially a 4.0 GPA student attending university on a full-ride scholarship before the Trump Administration went into office. Due to all the bills being passed, my life in America was broken down on multiple fronts. My home state of Ohio is no longer safe for me to stay in or return to, so I'm staying with my husband in Canada on a temporary resident visa. However, that will expire in September of this year (2025) and time goes by fast. I'm asking for help covering my immigration fees because until I can get permanent residency, I am unable to get a work permit and provide for myself. My hope is to get citizenship in Canada and be able to work to provide for myself, my husband, and our animals. I want to stay here happily with the love of my life and live without persecution.

All donations will go towards (in Canadian dollars):

Lawyer bill ($5,810)

Lawyer retainer for spousal sponsorship, work permit, and permanent residency ($8,500)

Biometrics fee ($85)

Any excess donations will go into covering any other lawyer bills after the retainer is paid for or expenses such as groceries/rent. Thank you if you can provide help at all, it is forever appreciated and will keep me safe.

I'm reaching out on behalf of my incredible son Lucius, who made the brave decision to leave everything behind in search of a safer future. After last year, they chose to move to Canada, sacrificing a full-ride college scholarship, their plans for top surgery, and the life they'd built here to start over with their loving Canadian husband in a place that felt safer for them.

This journey has been anything but easy. Immigration costs have proven to be far more expensive than they were prepared for. The initial $3,000 retainer for legal representation is already gone, and now they are facing mounting processing fees to reach resident status. Without this status, they are unable to work and support themselves, which is critical for funding the ongoing legal bills and securing their future in Canada.

My kid is a resilient, compassionate, and hardworking person who deserves the chance to build a life in a place where they feel safe and valued. The financial burden of immigration is overwhelming, and they need assistance to carry this weight. Every dollar raised will go directly toward legal fees, immigration processing costs, and the steps needed to help them stay in Canada and thrive alongside their husband.
