Luck For Lacie
Hi my name is Brooke I’m starting this fundraiser in honor of my sweet girl Lacie. My best friends Makayla and Tyler have only had Lacie for a little over a year. Lacie just turned 1 in March — and over the last few months we’ve noticed she hasn’t been feeling well. It comes in waves, but she will go days with episodes of vomiting and extreme fatigue. We vocalized our concerns with our primary vet and she reassured us that Lacie was healthy and occasional vomiting in puppies is normal. On May 3rd I brought her in because I had suspicion that she may have Lymes after reading and researching what could be wrong. I requested a blood test and my vet said no. “We aren’t going to put her through that” and instead pushed us to buy Bravecto.. which we wound up giving to her.
Fast forward to this past week... Lacies vomiting episode began again and she stopped eating her food all together. No interest in “table” food, or even her favorite Puppacino.... I called our vet and tried to get her in over the past week and they said they had no availability. I called again Saturday morning and asked if they had any advice on what we should do - but still no help. So we decided to take her to ER.
Lacie is now hospitalized and in great hands in Red Bank — these doctors have been amazing and compassionate and confirmed my suspicion that Lacie does in fact have Lymes.... with the tests they have done they found that what Lacie is experiencing is a rare kidney infection caused by Lymes called Lyme Nephritis.
We began treatment on Monday with the hopes of her BUN going down. Today we got the call that Lacie is not responding to medication and her BUN is rapidly increasing..... our last hope is to start her on dialysis Thursday morning in efforts to bring her BUN down so her kidneys have a chance of reacting well to the treatment.
With all of her treatments and vet stays over night the expenses are becoming way to much for them to pay forward. The last option we have is dialysis which the Dr said she can guarantee will bring her BUN down. The cost is between $10k-$12k per session.
We appreciate everyone who pitches in to help, and every amount helps ❤️
