Lucky Logan’s Recovery

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Alex, and by a butterfly effect I can trace to my childhood, I came across a Facebook post about this beautiful husky, Logan.

By this beautiful nature of chance, I came across Lucky Logan. Sorry if the eyeball skeeves anyone out; it was actually worse before, and I feel ya. My heart immediately dropped. He was living and picked up in my own hometown 80 miles north. He took a car to the face, leaving him with a bum eye….his owner refused to pay for the surgery but also refused to legally surrender him, leaving him to live for weeks with his eyeball literally out of his head. A rescue committed to saving him desperately needed a foster, so I volunteered. The other option was a kill shelter in a NJ suburb of NYC - overwhelmed, out of cages, and underfunded.

Then- Logan got his eye surgery, removing all of his left eye. We thought we were out of the woods and on the way to The Good Life.

but then…his stitches started to spread, revealing a deep infection and lingering tissues. I had to rush him to the ER vet Saturday night, fearing an infection would reach his brain. The team at Garden State Veterinary Services stepped right up with top-line care - they cleaned the eye all up with sure stitches, antibiotics, and fixed a complication from his neutering as well.

Since we basically had to do the same surgery twice - the budget was blown for Logan’s care, but the rescue knew it simply had to be done and was the right thing no matter what.

Logan came home today after almost 4 days at the hospital. He is physically light years healed, with no more issues. His spirit shows more and more as he regains his strength and confidence. I told him when I had to leave him that I WOULD come back - you can tell he hasn’t had that promise kept before. Help me help him - and other dogs just like him.

If any have a dime to spare, knowing inflation and gas are killers, please consider donating for Logan (Wolverine!) and his recovery. This will also generally serve the rescue’s mission. He’s not going to be put down. He’s got and is going to get the care he needs. He won’t ever be hurt or neglected again. Help us make it happen. This rescue focuses on the hard dogs - the ones few may want or can contend with. Community has helped me get on my feet before - I’m passing it on to those who now need it more.

Thanks for reading if you’ve gotten this far ❤️ even if you can’t donate - I want to tell you all that coincidence may be real after all - the small butterfly effects that led to this union are only scratched upon here - they go even deeper, maybe a story for another post. It’s actually all a beautiful web that led to this moment. I hope you can take that as some consolation, some hope that good does come for the strangest of reasons, and to believe in that chance.

I do not run or directly represent this rescue. All that credit goes to Ms. Keri. I am only trying to be an aid to her cause. Thank you again for staying with me. You can explore their mission at the link below.
