Lucy's conservation trip to Malaysia in July 2024

Hi, my name is Lucy and I am 17 years old. I have recently been selected to represent Girlguiding South West England, along with 15 other Girlguides, on the international opportunities (INTOPS) conservation trip to Malaysia in the summer of 2024.

This trip will include volunteering at a turtle sanctuary to help bring about the recovery of depleted populations of turtles and save them from human consumption. As part of this, we will be carrying out a beach conservation where we will be cleaning the local beaches and assisting to provide the turtles with a sustainable habitat that will thrive in the future.

During this fifteen-day adventure, I will be trekking through the jungle, visiting Kuala Lumpur to learn about their culture and customs and meeting girlguides of Malaysia. This opportunity will help develop my personal growth before embarking on my next adventure at University.

Any donations towards this opportunity of a lifetime will be greatly appreciated and a proportion of the amount raised will go directly to the turtle sanctuary I am volunteering at.
