Lucy's Fight Against Colon Cancer

Hello, I am Carra Miller, a friend of Lucy Forbes. With Lucy's permission, and the assistance of our friend Chad Baruch, I have put together this fundraiser to assist Lucy with meals, bills, medical costs, home healthcare, and other costs associated with her fight against colon cancer.

Lucy was diagnosed with advanced-stage colon cancer in November. She underwent immediate surgery--her doctors were very pleased with the outcome--and now will begin radiation treatment followed by chemotherapy. Since the diagnosis and initial surgery, last weekend, Lucy fell and broke her right humerus. She underwent another emergency surgery to correct the break--which was successful!--but she is currently unable to use her right arm or hand (a challenge, as she is right-handed).

Lucy is a very private person and a very independent person. Asking for help is very, very difficult for her. But right now, she needs our help. She is the sole caregiver to her 15-year-old daughter, Laura. Laura has her hands full with school (where she is excelling!) and doesn't yet have a driver's license.

So how can you help? There are four enormous concerns for Lucy right now: 1) in-home assistance with basic living tasks (particularly during the day) as she undergoes treatment, 2) help with meals, 3) transportation to and from medical appointments, and 4) costs of medical bills. These things, of course, can prove to be very costly. Any donations would assist Lucy in paying for these pressing needs.

Also, as much as Lucy loves flowers, the doctors won't allow her to have them right now.

Finally, Lucy would love to hear from you. And she believes fervently in the power of love and prayer.
