Lucy's Project needs your help!
Donation protected
** UPDATE ** Thank you SO incredibly much to everyone who donated. It means the world to us that we were able to raise almost $6k. Your generosity has kept us going and we've been moved by how much support we've had during this tough time for our organisation. But good news!! We have just been granted charity status and are now allowed to create charity-specific fundraisers through GoFundMe. So for now, we will be closing this fundraiser.
But this does not mean we are out of the woods! If you're reading this and would still like to contribute, you can head to our website and make a donation directly to us (www.lucysproject.com.au/donate).
Again, thank you so much. With you're support we can create safe families - paws and all.

In the nine years that Lucy’s Project has been operating, we have made monumental progress in bringing awareness to the intersection of animal abuse and family violence. We have brought the issue of animal abuse as a form of family violence out of the dark, advocating for humans and animals and their right to a safe and secure home. We have built capacity across the family violence and animal service sector to recognise and respond to domestic abuse involving animals, working to ensure that humans and animals have the supports they need to access safety.
The work we have done over the past nine years has been funded through small grants and donations. We have also relied on the generosity of individuals who have volunteered their time to our organisation. We are a small organisation with very few overheads, and considering the work that we do, we make our money go a long way. But we cannot operate on nothing. Unfortunately, the end of the financial year spelt the end of our last remaining operational grant. As there are no grants we are eligible for in the upcoming rounds, and our income from public fundraising is down, we may be forced to close our doors if we cannot fundraise enough money to keep us going.
This is why we need your help. We have set up this GoFundMe with a goal of $20 000. This is a small amount for an organisation with a reach as large as ours. This money will allow us to stay in operation until we receive DGR status, which we are working hard to finalise. DGR status will make us eligible for considerably more funding streams in the new year. Until that time, we are relying on the generosity of you, our supporters.
The work that Lucy’s Project does provides value and makes a difference in the lives of family violence victim-survivors. We know this because victim-survivors have told us themselves - many times. We have done so much work to be proud of. We advocate for DFV victim-survivors with animals, we create animal-inclusive referral pathways, we provide guidance for organisations and governments who wish to account for the link between violence to humans and violence to animals within their practices. We have seen our impact and our reach, and we still have so much more to offer. We desperately want to continue doing this work so that no one is ever forced to choose between their own safety and the safety of the animals they love. But we need your help.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support. We appreciate it more than you know.
