Lui Family Adoption
Donation protected
We’re so excited to announce that we are in the process of growing our family through adoption.
Adoption has always held a special place in my heart, and the way in which Brian and I assumed we would start a family because of the odds against us conceiving and carrying a healthy baby to term. We will always be so grateful and overwhelmed at the miracle of having Kaden, but the desire to adopt is still just as present. There are so many lives in need of love, and we have a lot more love to give.
It will probably be a while before we are actually bringing a baby home; the average time is currently between a year and a half to two years. We are just in the first phase of the process - the waitlist - where we are completing our home study, clearances, and all of the legal documentation required. After this, we are moved to the active list, where we can start matching with expectant mothers who are considering adoption, or a parent whose baby has already been born.
We will keep you all updated as we move along in the process. In the meantime we would love to have your prayers:
1. Pray for the expectant moms we match with - that they would receive the compassion and support they need from their family and friends regardless of their decision in who parents their baby, and that they would experience overwhelming love and peace in the middle of unimaginably difficult circumstances.
2. Pray for their babies - that they would be nurtured and would develop healthily while their mothers are processing the decision of choosing life for them, and that they will grow up always knowing they are loved no matter who raises them.
3. Pray for us - that our hearts will be prepared for the emotional ups and downs of this journey, that we will be able to raise the funds needed for the legal expenses, and that we will know how to be as empathetic and supportive of the expectant mothers as they make probably the most difficult decisions of their lives.
Some of you have graciously asked how you can help us in tangible ways. If you are familiar with adoption, you know that it is unfortunately not only a slow process, but also an expensive one. The national average is between $20,000 and $45,000 - this covers the cost of attorneys, social workers, physicians, government administrators, and caseworkers involved in the legal side of things as well as counseling, medical expenses, and other support the expectant mom may need. Although we have been planning and saving towards this, we cannot do this alone and would be so grateful if you would consider partnering with us!
Thank you for walking through this adventure with us! We’re so blessed to have your support as we work to bring Baby Lui #2 home!
