Luis Rafael Collazo was born on April 8, 1937 to Juan Collazo and Nelida Collazo in Puerto Rico. Luis was one of four children. He grew up alongside his siblings Quique, Carlos and Iris Collazo.

In the 1940's Luis emigrated to the United States and moved into a quaint apartment in New York City. As an adult, he became a 'jack of all trades', working as a cab driver and a delivery driver of merchandise. Later, Luis became a superintendent at 600 West End Avenue where he was beloved by all who resided there. He'd sit outside of the building to lovingly greet all who had the unique pleasure of simply passing by.

When not working, Luis enjoyed sitting back and watching 'cowboys and indians'. Or rather, they'd watch him! Napping was a favorite past-time for Luis. He also enjoyed listening to salsa music, fixing things, traveling, camping with his family, and most of all, EATING! His palate was rich and he never  missed an opporunity to eat langosta and steak.

Luis was an extrodinarily warm and loving man. He wore his heart on his sleeve and there was never a person that met him and didn't fall in love with the unconditional acceptance and kindness he showed them.

He is survived by his only brother, Quique, his wife Isabel, his daughters Michelle, Evelyn and Debbie, his grandchildren Sheila, Karla, Nicholas, Alexis, Alec and Seth, and his great-grandchildren Armani and Roman as well as countless nieces and nephews.
