Dear Family and Friends
I am writing you today to sadly inform you of the tragic and sudden death of my nephew Luis Maldonado Jr. He was 23 years old and was a victim to the senseless violence infecting Chicago (https://chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2020/2/2/21118857/chicago-shootings-weekend-gun-violence-jan-31-feb-3)
Luis was on his way home after a night of spending time with some friends. He was a back-seat passenger as the vehicle he was in, was stopped at a red light. A SUV came along side them and fired numerous rounds, striking him 3 times. A female friend that was seated next to him was also hit in the hip. Luis was pronounced dead on his arrival at Saint Anthony Hospital.
Luis, like many of the young man that live in Chicago was a troubled kid, trying to find his way in the urban jungle of Chicago. No matter his troubles, no young man or parents deserves to become a victim to the senseless violence.
I will always remember Luis for his politeness and his warm and loving heart. He loved his family and was a great big brother. And because of that, I know he is by God side. He will be missed.
I am writing for your support, in helping my brother and his immediate family in this difficult time. They have 3 additional kids and the unplanned funeral expenses are not within their reach.
