Luke Austin Coy HLHS Fund

Baby Luke Austin Coy was born on October 8th to my son, Jared Coy and his loving and wonderful fiancée Alexandra Escamilla. Luke was diagnosed with an extremely rare heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Luke had open heart surgery at 7 days old and will have a series of operations throughout his life to help his heart function. Luke will forever have this congenital heart defect. Luke is slowly recovering from his first surgery and his parents and family are eager to be able to hold him in loving arms. We are filled with tremendous love for our strong superhero, fighting for a life that he hasn’t lived yet.

Luke is going to require life-long care, medication, and additional surgeries. Jared and Alexandra chose one of the best heart surgeons in the country in order to give Luke the best chance for life. We are extremely grateful for the expertise and dedication of Luke’s doctors, nurses, and surgeons at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, and for aiding the survival of our baby boy in his first few weeks of life. Luke would not be alive today without this expert medical team and the love, support, and prayers from all of our friends and family.

Jared and Alexandra will need to stay in Corpus Christi for many months to come while he is recovering from his first surgery and preparing for the 2nd major surgery soon after. This is going to be a long and challenging journey ahead and we are asking for donations to assist with any medical costs that they will have during his lifelong hospital trips and additional surgeries to come. This will also help support day-to-day living expenses including food and bills while caring for Baby Luke and their family.
