Luke Howard Spinal Cord Injury - AKA LoKoLuke55X
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dolly Engen, on behalf of Luke and his family and at the request of many people we have started fundraising for him.
On April 13th 2024 Luke fell off a 15 - 20 ft bridge after a motorcycle malfunction and landed on his head (with helmet). He was life-flighted to Desert Regional Medical Hospital after 1 hour wait in the desert. The fall had shattered his C5 vertebrae and had emergency surgery after arriving at the hospital. the doctors went in the front of the neck, removed C5, installed "Spacer" and added hardware.
- Day 2 at the hospital he had full function on left side, and nothing on the right
- Day 3 Luke had a rough night but finally was able to make him comfortable and slept 4 hours solid - Dr came in and there was no change
- Day 5 limited shoulder movement and started physical therapy and pushing through.
- Day 6 Downgraded from ICU to regular hospital room
Luke is now preparing his journey and heading to an in-patient San Diego rehab center for Spinal Injury Rehabilitation, with a long road to recovery and readjustment to his day to day needs.
Your donation will assist Luke in this transition with medical expenses, medical equipment and any other needs that will arise due to his severe injury.
We will provide updates as they came in.
On behalf of the Howard Family, we appreciate your generosity and thank you for your support as we navigate their new challenge.
