Luke's 100 Hour Coaching Challenge
Hi there,
I will be doing ONE HUNDRED 1 hour coaching sessions to help raise some money for Jordan's Weeones - a children's cancer charity that my girlfriend and her family run in memory of her younger sister Jordan.
I hope that this will be a win/win in that not only will we be raising money for a great cause, but also supporting the growth and development of young cricketers at the same time.
Who was Jordan?
Jordan was my girlfriends little sister. She sadly passed away from cancer in 2014 at the age of 16 years old. Jordan loved music and would brighten up every room with her bubbly, friendly personality. She loved life and always had a constant smile on her face. None of this changed throughout her treatment, even at the worst of times she always managed to smile and help other children she met at the hospital. As a family, we are privileged to have a daughter/sister who taught us as much, if not more, than we taught her. Cancer does not define who Jordan is in our hearts. She had such an awesome personality and it is this, and her love of life, that drives us to help other families supporting their children in her name.
What will the charity do with your donation?
The charity has been set up to help support families who have children that have been diagnosed with cancer or life limiting illnesses. Any money raised will go directly towards helping families that need it most. Jordan's Weeones currently work with Teenage and Young Adult representatives at Hospitals across the East and West Midlands to identify families who have a need for their support and offer financial grants to help.
The families they support can be from all over the UK. The nature and severity of their child's illness mean that they may have numerous appointments, treatments and surgeries that span over weeks, months and even years. Not all families live near the hospitals that provide the specialist treatment these children need, so this kind of travel can be a big financial hit on families. The same goes for car parking fees, associated overnight stays and food costs for the families, all so they can be close to their child. The grants Jordan's Weeones provide make a huge difference and the more support they can get, the more families they can help. Their income is mainly from selling homemade craft items, individual fundraisers and donations so every little helps.
