Luke's Volvo Repairs
My name is Luke Collins. I'm a 37 year old struggling to keep two self-run businesses going. One of those businesses is being a medical courier. To do this job, I drive about 200 miles a day to small rural nursing homes to deliver essential medication in a very well loved Volvo V70, seven days a week, 365 days a year, in all kinds of weather.
For the past two weeks I've been doing this without air conditioning, as the AC compressor pump on my Volvo has failed. Despite the Wisconsin summer reaching its mid-90s peak, I was unable to afford to have the compressor replaced, and so was simply coping with it in hopes of saving up enough to have it replaced.
Unfortunately, the reason it failed turned out to be that the clutch had rusted badly and begun to stick to the rest of the mechanism, meaning that even when the compressor was turned off, it was still exerting a lot of extra pressure on the serpentine belt, which has now failed. Sadly, the design of the V70 does not permit an air conditioner delete, and so replace of the compressor and belt are now mandatory.
I am doing what I can to borrow and rent vehicles to keep working in the meantime, but every day I am without my beloved Volvo I end up deeper in the hole. Your donation helps me get back on the road all the sooner and gets me back to helping retirees get their medicine.
