Lukin Strong - Help Rob Fight Stage IV Cancer
To say the last year has been challenging is an understatement for the Lukin Family. In April 2020, Rob started to experience leg and foot discomfort. He started receiving medical attention and test were done, but due to COVID restrictions, interactions with doctors were limited and frustrating. The pain increased and the loss of mobility ensued. Rob had blood work, injections, MRI’s and CT Scans done and in a 9 month period saw 9 different doctors, with no answers.
In late December one of his pain management doctors sent him for a CT Scan with contrast which showed a massive tumor interfering with his S1 nerve root. This would be the reason for loss of sensation and mobility. In early January 2021, Rob was scheduled for a biopsy, where the family had the longest 2 week wait of their lives.
On January 21, the Lukin family received the horrible news that Rob's tumor was CANCER he had EWING SARCOMA, Stage 4 cancer. They knew from this moment on their lives would be completely changed. Rob underwent a pet scan where results showed his cancer has spread to his ribs, spinal cord, neck as well as multiple lesions on his lung. As we know, Rob’s cancer is very rare and fast spreading, it is NOT CURABLE but TREATABLE. We know that Rob will have multiple chemotherapy cycles over the next 9 months. Currently, Rob has completed 3 cycles with his 4th cycle being a 5 night stay in the hospital with heavy chemotherapy all 5 days, but he has a long road ahead.
Rob’s pain was getting so severe, he needed 24hr care, where his wife Jamie and children Chase and Ty have been by his side aiding to him. He has been using a walker and wheelchair to get around as he does not have complete function of his leg nor feeling. However, their two-story home is not conducive for his condition, thus support from his family is essential.
The Lukin family is staying positive and living each day to the fullest, leaving it all in God's hands. Prayers for healing upon Rob's body is what is being asked, as the Lukin's are going to continue this fight in every way possible.
This family would never ask for help which is why we are reaching out on their behalf for healing and any monetary donation. All is appreciated. Funds received will go to the Lukin family to help with any and all expenses they may endure during this time.
Rob and his family have always been the ones to fight and support so many in our community, and now we have the opportunity show our support to them.
