In the classroom, on stage, and in the community, Luminary Arts is committed to keeping Arts in Education. This up and coming non-profit group needs your support to make this dream possible! Please read below to see what we do and what we need! We appreciate your support.

What We Do!

In the Classroom:
Luminary teaches full curriculum, standards aligned, classes in Music, Dance, Theater and Visual Arts. Currently we are in three Elementary schools in North County San Diego ,full time, with hopes to expand. This is the second year of this program. Luminary also offers professional development instuction for teachers on intergrating the arts in to their classrooms.

On Stage:
Luminary produces educational theater performances for students as well as opportunities for students to perform on stage along side our resident teaching artsist. We have produced performances of "A Civil War Story; There is always hope" a Civil War production directed at 8th grade history curriculum for the past three years.
This summer we staged a production of "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare; Abridged" and hope to offer an in school assembly performance option for High Schools in conjunction with the Literature curriculum.

We are in our second year of producing a summer staged reading series that partners student actors with teaching artists on stage. We have done productions of "A Midsummer Nights Dream", "The Good Doctor", "Marcella De Luz Lights up the World" and "Glass Menagerie" All of these productions include both student and professional actors and are open to the community at a requsted donation/pay what you can opportunity.

In the Community:
Luminary partnered with the California Center for the Arts Escondido this past summer to offer a two week theater intensive for local middle school and high school students. The students learned the art of characterization, script analysis, stage combat, created character masks, and performed scenes from Shakespeare.

We are  working to build year round after school program for students who wish to explore the arts beyond what is offered in the classroom. We also hope to produce community based productions that can involve all levels of theater experience.

What We Need:

Our goal with this campaign is to raise the funds to help keep the costs of our programs accesible for the school districts and the community and to allow us to continue to grow and expand our classes to additional schools. This will allow the program to be available to more students and a larger audience, despite economic status. Things that your funds will be supporting are classroom supplies, props and costumes, teachers, marketing and adminstrative costs. We are a Non-Profit organization with our 501c3, and all donations are tax deductable up to the amount allowed by law.
We have recntly been granted two small grants from the San Marcos Community Foundation and the San Diego County Districts 3 and 9. These funds are supporting our teaching artists professional development as well as allowed us to expand full time in to our third school elemnetary school for the 2016/2017 school year. As we grow, expenses and overhead admistration costs increase. It is our hope that through the generous support of donors like you we can continue to offer high quality arts education opportunities at low or no cost to the students and community of North County San Diego.
We are always looking for more involvement in our Board, in productions, as donors or sponsors, and as teaching artists. For more information please visit us at www.luminaryarts.org .

Thank you for your support and helping us keep the Arts in Education.
