Luna Family/Nova's Brain Surgery Expenses
Our dear friends and online family have asked us how to support the Luna family during another difficult season of medical challenges.
In early February, their 15 month old Solis was diagnosed with RSV, Pneumonia, and a double ear infection requiring two weeks of treatment. In the course of that illness the Luna family also learned that their 7 year old, Nova will need to have their 6th brain surgery to address complications (slit ventricle syndrome) related to their hydrocephalus and VP shunt.
Nova's surgery, scheduled for March 02, will require an ICU stay following the procedure for 3-30 days, and will likely lead to another brain surgery / shunt revision and possible cranial expansion before they are able to come home.
While most of our actual medical expenses will be covered by insurance and hospital support, ash is a self-employed photographer and the sole provider for their family working job to job. The Luna family is already navigating the strain of missed work during Solis' illness and is trying to prepare as best as they can for the work that will need be missed for the course of Nova's hospitalization, as well as, the additional unexpected expenses of lodging, parking, food, and childcare during this time.
No one under the age of 18 will be allowed to visit Nova during their stay, including siblings, and Sol is still exclusively nursing so the family is having to get creative in relocating everyone near the hospital for the course of Nova's hospitalization.
These funds will allow the Luna family to stay afloat and focus on the health and healing of their children during this time.
In addition to donations here, ash is hosting a series of heavily discounted photo sessions and Nova has created fundraising t-shirts.
