Luna’s Emergency ICU visit

Hey guys, I’m Daz, and most of you who will be seeing this know me already… and you probably know I am absolutely a crazy loving cat mom to 3 beautiful fur babies! Luna, Serabi, and Charlie.

Last week Luna started off with some sniffles and was otherwise normal, I thought it was just a kitty cold and she would be ok, I made sure to help by wiping her nose and using warm cloths to alleviate the nasal discomfort.

A few days later I realized she was much slower, hardly moving, and hadn’t eaten her food or seen her drink any water. I got really nervous and tried to take her to the vet, they said she had to go to the ER at Angell Memorial due to the extreme lethargy and dehydration.

Luna is still very young and healthy, a purely indoor and fully vaccinated cat, not even 3 years old yet, and this hit so suddenly I was in shock.

After waiting anxiously for 2 hours to be seen, they told me Luna had a severe upper respiratory Infection, dehydration, low blood count, among other things and she needed to be admitted immediately.

I was in a panic, it was going to cost 2k just to admit her, and a possibility of going up to 4K for care, depending.

I didn’t have the money and I had to get an emergency care credit to be able to have her taken care of. The care credit card will end up being a huge monthly bill I just… can’t afford to handle on my list of current (and getting higher) bills.

(I’ve also been trying to save for my new adopted blind kitten Charlie, who may need to have his second eye removed)

Luckily I was able to pick up Luna and take her home 30 hours later, with some meds and I have to monitor her closely so she doesn’t backslide.

Shes a little loopy, not up to her full strength or appetite yet, and has her silly shaved legs from the IV’s, but she’s got her spark back, and it’s a huge weight off my chest, she’s my babygirl ‍❤️‍
