Luna’s Legacy Celebration of Life Memorial Fund

Luna Elizabeth’s Fight:

On July 28th Cheyenne Hetrick and Ryan Hetrick welcomed their baby girl Luna Elizabeth into their world at 6:01pm, weighing in at 7lbs, 19 inches long and perfect in every way. Mommy and baby were cleared the next day to go home and begin their new lives with daddy, big sissies Kaylynn, Jemma and big brother Jensen.

8 hours after being home, at 6 am Luna was found in cardiac arrest and CPR was initiated by her mom Cheyenne until medics could arrive. She had been down for an unknown time as she had been fed and cared for only an 1 hour and forty minutes prior to her cardiac arrest. Thanks to the quick action of her parents and medical staff, Luna was successfully revived, however in serious critical condition requiring her to be life flighted to Geisenger Hospital, and the fight for her life has continued.

After being expected to not survive the flight, the hour, the day and now several days, Luna has battled like a champ and continues to prove the doubters wrong.

Initially, the extent of brain injury was reported to be global and non-life sustaining. However, her Neurologist reported that babies can recover some brain function stating “best case scenario-Cerebral Palsy.”

Luna is telling us everyday that she is a miracle as seen by increased lung functions, heart functions, kidney functions allowing life sustaining medications to be discontinued and yet still continuing to sustain her own life.

As you can imagine, Cheyenne, Ryan and their family are remaining vigilant at her side encouraging her to fight for each new milestone while the medical team continues to identify a cause. Strong determination does come at a cost though to include travel, lodging, food, medical fees, child care as well as animal care (while away from home). The list is endless.
