Lung Support for Jerrica
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jerrica. I’m 31 years old with an 11 year old daughter. I just recently had a double lung transplant. After two long years of suffering and many overnight stays at the hospital, I was listed as a ‘donor recipient’ on May 23, 2019. It was then that I would be faced with a life or death decision. I whimpered so many nights from shear exhaustion of just trying to take a breath. I grew weaker by the day.
On July 2nd at precisely 1:47 p.m. a day and time that I will never forget, I received a ‘the call’. I had to take a chance to live longer for my daughter. The rare disease that I suffer from is called Hypersensitivity Sensitivity Pneumonitis . No one knew that my life was falling apart. I was breathing at a 21% lung capacity and was immediately sent to the Mayo Clinic for two weeks just to be told that there was nothing that they could do for me and I only had 6 months to 1 year to live. The cardio thoracic doctor told me that this is one of the most dangerous surgeries and was the only thing that could give me a second chance for life.
I received my new lungs at UW Health in Madison, Wisconsin. As you can imagine, I was no where near prepared for such an expensive ordeal. The lung transplant was nearly $1,000,000.00. This doesn’t include the anti rejection medicines, the anti bacteria medicine, steroids etc. living computing taking care of my daughter and food daily for us I will also have to travel from Milwaukee to Madison bi-weekly for an entire year.
Please consider to continue contributing to help me ease the financial burden during this this major life event. $5 $10 $20 $50 $100 I’m just grateful I understand that not everyone will be able to make a financial donation, in this case I ask that you please share this page as much or as often as possible to help me spread the word. I will continue to update everyone via social media as often as I can but please do not hesitate to personally reach out to me. Your calls, texts, emails and prayers are very important to us! Thank you all so much.
