Lung Transplant Assistance Needed Linda McClary

My name is Linda Pressley McClary and I live in Augusta GA. I have been married for thirty-five years to Mallie McClary. We are raising two teenagers who are sixteen and thirteen and have two adult children. We have a two-year granddaughter. Through our passion for kids and young people, we have been blessed to be affectionately "Auntie and Uncle" in raising neighborhood and troubled kids in need of a loving, structured environment. This is our mission.

Twelve years ago, I was diagnosed with a debilitating disease called Scleroderma, which caused scarring on my lungs and difficulty in breathing. My family and I were a little confused by this diagnosis because I had never smoked and rarely drank. The doctors explained that it was an autoimmune disease that anyone could develop. Years later, I was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, which affects the heart. The damage to my lungs cannot be reversed but only treated with medication to try to prevent further damage. For approximately eight years, I have had to use oxygen to help with breathing. In December of last year, I developed another illness, and it caused more damage to my lungs. This has led to more difficulty breathing and my doctor has told me that I needed a lung transplant.

We humbly seek your kindness to be a blessing during our time of need as I face this difficult period. I have been told that this will be a long and arduous journey. I will be in the hospital for over a month if there are no complications and longer if there are complications. We are required to move to Charleston SC for three months or longer. Insurance does not cover this stay; consequently, we will be responsible for this expense. My husband will be required to take off from work for three months or possibly longer to be my caretaker. It is going to take up to a year for me to completely heal with many commutes from Augusta GA to Charleston SC for routine doctor visits. We are asking everyone to be a blessing as we seek financial assistance with my medical and living expenses. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
