Lung Transplant for Eve Hendrick

Hi, my name is Courtney and I am fundraising for my mom, Evelyn Hendrick.

In March of 2023, my mom Eve Hendrick was diagnosed with a terminal illness

that had been affecting her lungs since November of 2021.

After a misdiagnosis from local hospital, a specialist in Medford discovered that she had a severe case of chronic hypoxemic respiratory failure. He said she had Chronic Bronchiolitis (Small Airway Disease) as well as Bronchiectasis and referred her to the Interstitial Lung Disease program in Seattle Washington.

After many tests, the specialists decided that she would need a double lung transplant to extend her life. She was finally placed on the UNOS (United Network of Organ Sharing) list March 13, 2024.

On Saturday (April 20th 2024) a little over a year after her official diagnosis, my mom received a call from the University of Washington letting her know that they had a set of lungs that was a perfect match for her and asked her to rush to Seattle to prepare for surgery. Monday morning (April 21st 2024) Eve went into a 10 hour long surgery to replace both of her lungs.

The surgery was a success and now she is in recovery, breathing on her own for the first time in so long! Once she is released from the hospital her and my dad are required to remain in the Seattle area to be close enough to the hospital for appointments and if an emergency arises.

All funds will be used to go towards housing and food costs for three months while they are in the Seattle area to reduce out of pocket spending while my dad is out of work.
