Lungs for Makayla

Makayla is a vibrant, fiesty, fun loving little girl that has Cystic Fibrosis and due to medical neglect she spent the first 4 years 6 months in and out of foster care. On January 25, 2019 Makayla got her forever home, which also happened to be her last foster home. She became deathly ill February 2, 2019 and spent more than 45 days in the hospital and nearly died. She miraculously recovered but Amanda was told she would need a double lung transplant as soon as possible if she were to live more than another year at most. Amanda and Makayla got that call on June 30th; a match become available. Makayla received her double lung transplant on July 1, 2019.  She is now in recovery in Boston with an expected hospital stay 1-3 weeks without complications. In addition Amanda and Makayla are expected to stay close to the transplant hospital for continued care and evaluation for the next 3 months. Amanda is a single mom. Her income is derived from providing childcare and fostering children. She currently has 3 other foster children in her home while caring for Makayla. The next 3 months is going to take a considerable toll on Amanda financially and this account is set up to help her with living accommodations in or near Boston for 3 months, while maintaining her living expenses and accommodations in Maine, travel,  food, and anything else that needs to be paid while Amanda is out of work and without income. Her job for the next 3 months should to only take care of and be with Makayla as she recovers and begins to use her new lungs. I want to make sure that is all she has to worry about.
