Lupe Falcon’s transplant journey
Donation protected
In 2020, during the pandemic, my mom became very ill. At first, she thought it was just the flu, but after several days of not getting better, she decided to go to the ER. After doing chest X-rays they determined she had pneumonia and sent her home. We later learned she should have been hospitalized and treated. This delay led to the development of Lupus and Interstitial Lung Disease. We knew a lung transplant would be in her future, but we were expecting it to be later down the road. On October 17th I took her for a follow-up appointment with her pulmonologist in San Diego. Upon his exam, he decided it was time to start her transplant process and keep in admitted in the hospital for the time being. Her work has decided to cancel her insurance which was $330 a month and put her on cobra which is around $1,000 a month. We have been told that for the first 6 months she will have to be within an hour of the hospital in case of an emergency. We have had no time to prepare for these added expenses. Any donations would be greatly appreciated as we navigate this journey. We thank you all for your well wishes, prayers, love, and support during these times. We know she is in the best hands!
