Lurch’s Diabetes Testing

Hi all,

My puppy Lurch is in a bit of a tight spot at the moment. He turns 3 on the 31st of July, and on the 14th of this month he had two back-to-back seizures out of nowhere.

I’ve been in and out of the Emergency Vet with him for the last week while having to manage his daily, increasing seizures, etc.

He’s scared to eat, scared to play and has started to deteriorate before our eyes.

The bills are adding up at an alarming rate and there’s more blood work, MRIs, neurology appointments and vet visits in our very near future.

We expect nothing, but any help would be beyond graciously appreciated.

Lurch can’t say thank you, so I’ll say it for us both xo

12/2023 Update:

Thank you to everyone who helped so graciously, we truly appreciate it. Lurch had a scary few months and it was touch and go for a while but we confirmed his diagnosis of Hyperparathyroidism! He already has Diabetes Insipidus, so his vet lovingly refers to him as an ‘endrocrine mess’! His medications were working wonders, but unfortunately he’s starting to exhibit side effects that signal his body is rejecting the meds, and could lead to organ failure if we continue as is. So it’s back to the drawing board. For the next few weeks-to-months, Lurch will be undergoing weekly ionized calcium blood tests as we tweak the dosages of both his meds and experiment with the two (completely different) types of Diabetes Insipidus.
