Lu’s Chemotherapy & Recovery
Donation protected
UPDATE 06/08:
I just want to say thank you to everyone who has called, text, shared, and donated so far. We got the call today that Lu’s body is responding well to first round of chemotherapy. We have a very long (& very expensive) road, but there is officially a light at the end of the tunnel.
with love & puppy kisses,
The Neller’s
Hello, my name is Alex.
If you’re taking time to read, share, or help in any way, thank you from the very bottom of my heart. This is not easy.
On Wednesday morning last week I took Lu to the vet for his yearly shots & minor swelling in his lymph nodes that Blake noticed earlier in the week. I was naïve and thought that his lymph nodes were swollen because of the high pollen count, I was wrong.
An easy trip to the vet quickly turned into multiple biopsies and blood work.
We weren’t sure how quickly we were going to get results back, being we were going into a holiday weekend. I got the call Friday at 12:17PM that sent a feeling of absolute heart break through my body. Dr. Jim explained that it is unfortunately high grade, aggressive lymphoma.
Those of you who’ve spent time with our family over the last 6 years, have either been smothered in kisses or have likely gotten a love nip. We’ve joked for years about how much of an asshole he can be, but he’s my asshole. In my darkest days, he never left my side. When I come home from a long night at work, he’s always at the door just wait for me. He is so much more than just dog.
The love Lu has given us is pure and unconditional. While I can’t even begin to explain how angry and sad I am, it’s our turn to care for him and stay by his side as he begins to fight for his life.
Our plan as of today is to start his first round of treatment on Monday.
Thank you, again for any and all support as we enter this season.
