LuveveWaterCrisis

Donation protected

Luveve township is one of the western Bulawayo suburbs that have been seriously affected with typhoid and dysentery due to contaminated drinking water. While the Bulawayo city council has admitted that there is a serious problem with their water and are currently carrying out water sampling and other investigations, our people are going through a most cruel and traumatic experience; with Zimbabwe government remaining silent and doing nothing about this imploding terrible disaster. As of yesterday 14th June 2020, 6 children and 1 adult have been killed by the contaminated water, with scores of our people now admitted at Mpilo hospital. Unfortunately, up to a hundred more are languishing at home due to not having money for transport and admission to hospital for treatment. All this happening against the backdrop of an indefinite Covid-19 lockdown imposed by the Zimbabwe government. The local Luveve MP Stella Ndlovu is trying all she can to help, but is now overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of sick people in a country of 95% unemployment. As clean water and access to health are basic human rights, l therefore appeal, on behalf of the Luveve residents as well as all the people of Bulawayo, for donations of whatever amount that you can offer. The money will help attend to short term needs of providing transport to hospital and medications for treating patients severely affected by typhoid and dysentery. Any extra money could then go on to assist with water purification tablets and funeral expenses for the deceased.
