Meet Lxs Primxs
Honduran-Philippine-Colombian in spirit, estranged and yearning in mind, Lxs Primxs creates work that speaks to a third culture following. With Belle's dance training, (os)' theatre background, and Cat’s keen guiding hand, they complete each other and form a chromatic mezcla of collective embodiment, rooted in an understanding of the tension between assimilation and preservation. The three saw themselves in each other's work and soon identified each other as artist primxs.
The art angels of Lxs Primxs consist of Mariadela Belle Alvarez, Cat Ramirez, and Carl(os) Roa, and they’re ready to present their first major project: Spanish For Estranged Latin Kids! They’ve been hard at work for the past year, and they’re excited to mount their first major project in Spring 2019! But they need your help...
Production Needs
Why do we need your money? Great question!
While the three of us have access to many resources for free, including a fabulous venue and rehearsal space, we still have a deeper ambitions for the project as a whole. Let’s break down those expenses!
COLLABORATORS: This is the biggest part of our budget, and for very good reason! We have a variety of collaborators whose excellence and magic deserve to be paid, including guest curators, technicians, and our amazing director. Please help us be fair and equitable to our fellow artists!
PROMOTION: The word needs to be spread throughout Filadelfia! Donating to our project would pay for postcards, targeted ads, and videography to make sure everyone knows what’s happening. Performing to a room full of empty seats is one of the saddest things on earth, and we hope you can prevent that from happening!
LOGISTICS: A few simple words about this section of our budget: there will be food. There will be costumes. There will be programs. And these logistical production needs help us create the type of experience that will be memorable to an audience! Set and rehearsal space is already covered - we just need help with the smaller stuff!
CONTINGENCY: Accidents happen. Life happens. Because of this, it would be great to have a small amount of money set aside to fix whatever problems are thrown our way!
Goals For This Project
We plan to mount our show from April 4th-6th at Circle of Hope. No, seriously - this is actually happening! We’re going to produce our art no matter what, but in order to make our experience a comfortably challenging one, we will need your support! We’re a humble, DIY effort that wants to mount ambitious work with a scarcity of resources, so your money would support our sensibilities as producers!
We plan to host a night of visual arts, performance, and partying in conjunction with our show, as we want to connect with our community of artists and thinkers in a variety of ways. We believe our art should be not just culturally specific, but that it should extend beyond the confines of what we’ve been creating.
Donate now, and your money can be used right away to support needs on a week-by-week basis, as well as the scope of our overall production! No amount is too small - a drop in the bucket can form an entire waterfall of earnings!
