Lydia Nieves' Medical Expenses

Lydia Nieves suffered a massive stroke and needs support for her medical/caretaking expenses.

Lydia Nieves and the Nieves family are a light to their community, family, and friends. Anyone that knows this family knows how devoted they are to serving others, especially through their various talents in music, singing, and orchestrating community events to bring people together. They are always willing to share whatever they have, whether it's a warm Puerto-Rican style meal, an infectious laugh, a tight hug, or their time and energy.

Lydia, a vibrant woman, is especially active in the Room ministry, a ministry dedicated to reaching out to friends in the community through cultural, social, and faith-based programs. She also serves in outreach missions to serve the underserved. In addition to all of this, she manages her home, her family, and is always looking out for others. She loves to fish with her brother, nephews, grandkids, and friends.

Unfortunately, on September 17, 2023, Lydia suffered a massive stroke and lost function on her entire right side, along with the ability to communicate. Doctors are hopeful that she may recover through intensive rehabilitation. To provide around-the-clock care for her, Lydia's family has given up multiple days of work and face many difficult weeks and months ahead.

This fundraiser was created to support Lydia Nieves and the Nieves family, a family that couldn't be more deserving of help in their time of need, because they are always there in the time of need for others. All donations will go to cover Lydia's medical expenses not covered through insurance and to pay the accruing bills as the Nieves family members must leave work to provide full care to Lydia. Additionally, Lydia lives on a second-floor apartment without elevator access. She is no longer able to climb 2 flights of stairs to reach her own home, and the family is looking for another apartment to accommodate her new loss of function.
