Help My Family Say Our Final Farewell To "Ma"

Dearest Friends and Family,

Our family is currently being torn to pieces. We have experienced a heartache like no other. Today, we have learned that our greatest joy of having my best friend in our lives, my mother, Lydia Montes, will be coming to an end. Mami has been admitted in the hospital since early June and has recently been diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD). Her lungs have developed severe scarring and fibrosis making it extremely difficult to get oxygen. Unfortunately, all treatment has failed due to the irreversible damage. This now leaves us with the pain of watching her deteriorarte right before our eyes. We have been given weeks to enjoy what's left of her life. During this time, she will remain in the hospital.

This is the lady who loves everyone whole heartedly, the lady that roamed Hell's Kitchen for years, the lady who is known for her laughs, smiles and energy. To know her is to immediately love her. Her family is everything, her babies are her life. The life of every party, the light to the darkest days, the warmest hugs, the strongest words, the best kisses, the quirkiest lady in the neighborhood.

We ask for your support in providing her the best funeral services. We'd like to celebrate her life and all that she's given Hell's Kitchen, her family, her friends. Our family is grateful for your generosity, support, kind words, and well wishes.
