Lydia Spriggs Expenses

Spende geschützt
UPDATE: 12/21/22
Lydia's surgery went better than expected! They were able to remove half of the tumor (when they originally didn't expect to remove any). They sent a biopsy for testing. It is considered to be a low grade malignancy. The tumor is not the type of cancer that we typically think about because it does not spread past the mass. So the surgeon does not consider this to be cancer, but oncology does. Lydia is currently still recovering from surgery. She had a post-op MRI to make sure everything is still okay. We haven't heard the results back from that just yet. The oncologist met with Melissa and Larry this morning to discuss the plan moving forward. Once Lydia is released to go home, they will let her rest for a couple of weeks and give her incision time to heal. She will return to UK where she will begin a 6 week long process of radiation to shrink the remaining tumor. She will get radiation treatments Monday-Friday and rest on the weekends. During this time, Melissa, Larry, and Lydia will be able to stay in the Hope Lodge and be shuttled back and forth for treatments. However, Melissa and Larry will not be able to work during this time to be there for Lydia. It was confirmed by the surgeon that at some point, certain parts of Lydia's brain will stop working. At that point, she will need hormone replacements among other various medical assistance to compensate. Unfortunately, they are in this for the long haul and it's far from over. They still NEED your help and prayers! Thank you all for your love and support. We can't express our gratitude for each and every one of you during this time. It truly means the world to all of us.

Lydia Spriggs was taken to the hospital due to a severe headache on Saturday 12/17/22. After doing a CT scan, they discovered a mass on her brain. She was transferred to UK in Lexington that same day where they performed a MRI. The MRI results confirmed that Lydia has a brain tumor. This brain tumor is located in the middle region of her brain. The neurologists, surgeons, and oncologists are gathering to develop a plan for removal. Lydia will undergo surgery within the next few days once a plan has been established. Depending upon the success of the surgery, she might need further treatment and radiation to fully remove all parts of this tumor. After removal, they will send off for testing to determine whether it is cancerous. They are optimistic based upon what they have seen so far, but won't know for certain until testing. Lydia has a long journey ahead of her but she maintains a positive attitude nonetheless.

Several people have reached out to ask how they can help. With any serious medical diagnosis and treatment, comes hefty medical bills to follow. Melissa had just started a new nursing job at the time of discovery and unfortunately, Lydia's medical coverage doesn't begin until January 1st. As Melissa and Larry go through this journey with Lydia, their lives and work will remain on pause as Lydia is their #1 priority. Despite Melissa and Larry's desires to tackle these expenses alone, I am asking for donations to help them in the difficult days that lie ahead. All donations are directly deposited into their account. Regardless if you can donate or not, please continue to remember Lydia, Melissa and Larry, and the entire medical team in your prayers. Guide their hands and give them the knowledge to give our Lydia a complete and total healing. Thank you all.
