Lydia’s Cancer Treatment Expenses
Donation protected
Hi Everyone! My name is Shannon and I’m fundraising for my best friend, Lydia.
Lydia was recently diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer known as intraplacental choriocarcinoma.
During labor, she developed an infection known as chorioamnionitis so they sent her placenta to pathology to be examined. They discovered a cancerous tumor in her placenta and scans showed that it had spread to her lungs. Theo, her newborn son, was referred to a pediatric oncologist and tests showed that the cancer did not spread to him.
Lydia’s oncology team is confident that she will be cancer free in 6-8 cycles with an intense chemotherapy course. She began her chemo treatments on Monday. Treatment cycles are 14 days long and consist of two inpatient hospital days and two outpatient infusion days.
Lydia works as a nurse and is incredibly passionate about what she does. She was supposed to return to work in May after her maternity leave was up. She is unable to work until she is cancer free and no longer immuno-compromised. She is not getting paid while on leave. Donations are greatly appreciated as the financial struggles of medical bills should not be the focus of Lydias time with her newborn son, Theo.
Anything is greatly appreciated. Keep fighting Lydia, you got this!
