Meet Lying
Hi there! I'm Lying (yes that is a chosen name, based on a near-life-long nickname, based on Digimon, long story).

I'm a UK-based non-binary person with multiple disabilities that preclude me from finding work, including fibromyalgia that more or less renders me housebound. I can do some deskwork at home, within limits, but this earns about as much per month as Bob Cratchitt (yes I did the math, I'm that big of a nerd). As a result, I have spent my entire adult life in poverty, helped out chiefly by my own very low standards, a wonderful support network of friends and family, and occasional donations from supporters online.

I've been on the gender clinic waiting list for almost 5 years, have been nonbinary for almost 8 years, and have been self-medicating for around 2.5 years. In that time I have seen changes that I expected would take a decade or longer and am now able to spend my days almost devoid of dysphoria. Despite everything else within those years, it's been the happiest and most confident part of my life thus far.

The Problem
Self-medication is expensive, and even with support from donations, I barely manage to afford 1 month of medication at a time, with high shipping costs and lengthy delivery periods. This has been further exacerbated by the wages of the pandemic, the declining UK economy, and most recently geopolitical conditions in Eastern Europe straining supply lines for numerous resources even further.

As a result, this past Christmas I ran completely out of medication for the first time and have been experiencing the consequences of going off medication. This meant symptoms ranging from insomnia to mastalgia and even hot flashes. This has highlighted the need for a more robust solution less susceptible to delays.

The Solution
Every time I order a refill of medication, I have to pay for shipping, which adds up over the months. I also have to wait for delivery which can be grossly delayed by numerous factors, resulting in supply cuts as described above.

The obvious solution is to order more than 1 month at a time, significantly reducing shipping costs and disruption due to delays. However, this would require much more money than I ever have available and, whilst I can more or less rely on my supporters to fill in any shortage month-to-month, it's unreasonable to ask them to donate enough to cover this much.

Hence, this campaign! I'll be using the funds generated by this campaign to refill my medication in bulk orders of several months at a time.

The Goal
As I am approaching my 5th year on the gender clinic waiting list, I may receive my first appointment this coming November. That appointment will not likely include a formal NHS prescription of my medications, so I've set this campaign's goal to the amount I already spend each year on medication. Hitting that goal should then ensure that I am able to stay medicated even through the diagnostic process before the prescription.

If we hit that goal and go further, any additional funds will be directed towards other transition funds such as surgeries not covered under the NHS and laser hair removal.

So if you'd like to help me breathe much easier during what is hopefully the final hurdle of this waiting period, please consider donating to support my transition. Thank you.
