Lymphoma sucks. Graybear’s journey & research.

Hi my name is Zara, but most importantly this is Graybear. Today I woke up crying because I’m looking into the eyes of a cat so happy, purring, despite the fact he’s battling what we believe is Large Cell Lymphoma. I’ve currently spent thousands on a diagnosis including biopsies, specialized testing, radiological exams, and labs. The biopsy results along with his symptoms give an almost positive diagnosis but because he is on a steroid (a med typically used in cancer treatment and to aid with symptoms including inflammation) it can alter the results. The final path available would be to surgically open him and test multiple organs for the cancer. To do this, we would still have to stop the steroid he is on (which could ultimately kill him.) Also having such a large surgery could impact his already frail body. As a nurse, I feel there is always something more we can do, even if there is no cure, something special to that patient. It’s hard to swallow knowing I am out of options and having had a previous male cat die of the same thing,

kills me. After researching, I’ve decided to set up a gofundme seeing that there isn’t much research available on feline lymphoma. I hope this can help prevent another owner from going through this pain. I have not placed a charity at this time because I’m trying to find one specific to feline lymphoma and cancer research.
