Lyncoln Boland

Lyncoln, the daughter of Hayley and Will Boland was born at 31 weeks due to what we believe was an inner-uterine stroke and also reversed flow in her umbilical cord. Due to these issues and Lyncoln not moving on ultrasound, we had an emergency c-section to deliver.
Once she was born, Lyncoln went through so much testing! MRI’s and head ultrasound showed that she was born with bilateral grade 4 brain bleeds. She also has hydrocephalus, so she had a shunt placed to help drain the extra fluid around her brain. Unfortunately, a couple of months later, she got meningitis, and we had to remove her shunt, wait for the infection to clear, and then place another shunt.
Lyncoln has only one kidney, but it has been working well!
She also has a seizure disorder, causing seizures and infantile spasms.
Being born so early caused her to have tiny, fragile lungs. As a result, she has chronic lung disease, and after seven months of intubations and failed CPAP attempts, we were told that a tracheostomy would be the best thing for her. At seven months old, she received her trach, and as scary as it was at first, it has been such a blessing! Watching your baby fight and struggle to breathe is hard; it’s heartbreaking. However, having her trach has taken that pain away. Our sweet baby has been through so much in her short little life thus far, surgery after surgery. At just four days old, we were told that the Drs had done everything they could for her; she was in God's hands to improve or not. God was in her corner with the spirit of a warrior; she had beaten the odds and surpassed all expectations!

Lyncoln still has a long way to go; due to her brain damage at birth, she is developmentally delayed and will need to continue with many physical and occupational therapy appointments. Multiple doctor's appointments with specialists, including Neurologist, Neurosurgeon, Endocrinologist, Nephrologist, Pulmonologist, and ENT. Also, procedures for her trach, upsizing and making sure there’s no granulation tissue growing to block her airway. But, after 17 months in the NICU, she is finally HOME with her family!

We are so grateful for all of the prayers and the love and support we have received!
Please keep the prayers coming as we navigate this journey with our sweet girl!
